FAQ

Is the ski pass included with cross-country skiing and biathlon lessons?
  • No. The trail pass is not included in the lesson fee and is required to access the cross-country ski trails. Please make sure you have a valid trail pass before your lesson begins. It can be purchased directly from the Beille Nordic Area.
Is cross-country skiing suitable for children?
  • Cross-country skiing is an activity that is particularly well suited to children. It offers a fun and engaging way to learn, and the Beille Ski School has a dedicated area where children can be introduced to the sport.
  • The equipment is lightweight and easy to handle, helping children develop excellent balance and master the fundamental skills of cross-country skiing, including moving on flat terrain, climbing, descending, and learning the snowplough technique.
What equipment should children bring?
  • Children enrolled in levels from Piou Piou to 1ère Étoile should hire classic cross-country skiing equipment. For levels from 1ère Étoile to Étoile d'Or, skating equipment is required. Poles are only needed from the Flocon level onwards.
  • For children taking the 1ère Étoile course, we recommend arriving on the first day with classic cross-country skiing equipment. The instructor will let you know which day during the week your child should switch to skating equipment.
What should children bring?
Please make sure your child is properly equipped:
  • Waterproof clothing, with layers that can be removed if they get too warm.
  • Sunglasses and sunscreen, applied before the lesson.
  • A hat, headband, neck warmer and gloves (waterproof gloves are recommended for younger children).
  • A small water bottle and a light snack, such as a fruit purée pouch, for group lessons, as there is a short break halfway through the session.
  • A helmet is not required for cross-country skiing lessons.
How do group cross-country skiing lessons for children work?
  • Our teaching approach focuses on helping children become familiar with the sensation of gliding. Rather than taking them on long-distance outings, we use fun, progressive exercises that are much more effective for learning and far more engaging for young skiers.
  • From our experience, children who discover cross-country skiing in the right environment quickly gain confidence, have great fun, and often make rapid progress when they go on to learn alpine skiing or other snow sports.
Can my child try cross-country skiing?
Yes. We offer private introductory cross-country skiing lessons at weekends for children aged 3 and 4, giving them the opportunity to discover the sport in a fun and supportive environment.
